Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

In this drama, a popular musician (Malik Lakhdar-Hamina) supports his wife, his fundamentalist brother (who prays for them all) and his brother's wife with his earnings. In addition, they all live in his home with him. Moderate Muslims have always had a difficult time in Algeria, attacked by the French on the one hand, and by fundamentalists on the other. It is just before the government crackdown on popular fundamentalist political movements, and there is a lot of conflict in the air. Things take a turn for the worse for the musician and his family when he comes under a ban of censorship because his quite tame music video is deemed "pornographic." Before long, he has been beaten up by both the police and the fundamentalists, and he has a pretty awful time.
