Synopsis by Robert Firsching
In a year in which the American exploitation industry was taking its first tentative steps toward the "roughie" subgenre with films like The Defilers and Scum of the Earth, the Greek cinema was exploring similar areas of debauchery in films like this smarmy cautionary tale from director Tzanis Aliferis. The plot concerns an aspiring actress (Mirka Kalatzopoulou) who leaves school and goes to the big city to pursue her dreams. Beginning what she hopes will be her road to the top, the naive ingenue enters beauty contests and so forth, but soon falls into the clutches of a sadistic pervert (Kostas Kakavas) who promises to make her a star in exchange for certain unpleasant favors. The film explores the seamy side of show business with the usual relish until the unfortunate young actress snaps and kills her lecherous Svengali. Efi Economou co-stars with Malena Anoussaki and Yiannis Malouchos. The film was successful enough to result in a virtual remake six years later.
