Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Stage star James K. Hackett is about the only redeeming aspect of this brooding, overwrought drama from Ivan Abramson. Hackett is philanthropist Arthur Woodbridge, who has founded the Free Food Home for the "deserving" (whatever that meant) poor. He worships his wife, Ethel (Mabel Julienne Scott), but Ethel has married him only to provide support for her mother (Effie Shannon). She is really in love with another man, who has married her cousin, Helen (Ruby DeRemer). Ethel carries on an affair with the man. Helen finds out, but she refuses to divorce her husband. Ethel dies without revealing her infidelity to Woodbridge. Woodbridge is so grief-stricken by his wife's death that he can see no reason to go on without her. He toys with the idea of suicide and to save him, Ethel's mother reveals her daughter's infidelity. Woodbridge, however, refuses to believe it until Helen, whose husband has died, confirms it.
