Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Debuting September 6, 2003, the History Channel documentary series Come Home Alive offered first-person recollections of Americans who, for one reason or another, have been held in captivity abroad. One of the most talked-about episodes of the series was its second entry, "Ascent to Terror: Kyrgyzstan." In August 2000, four American mountain climbers were captured by Islamic rebels in southern Kyrgyzstan. As the foursome recalls the ordeal, actors recreate the incident in vivid detail. The episode includes a number of Army and survival experts, providing "What you can do" information in the event that the viewer ends up in a similar predicament in a foreign land.
