Drifting through a series of romances like dandelion fluff on a balmy day, Peter (Michael Riebl) loses his job as a photo-journalist yet still takes off for the French Riviera with his current lover Liesl (Sibylle Kos) because they already have tickets and reservations in hand. Before leaving though, Peter has a brief fling with a French woman and Liesl is in no mood to sleep with him. After arriving at the vacation spot, Peter cannot seem to handle the challenge of eating an artichoke, and when Simone, another friendly French-Algerian woman shows him how, the two end up in bed together. That lasts until Simone's lover shows up, at which time Peter starts to analyze whether or not he is really in love with Simone -- a question that might prove as challenging as the artichoke. Meanwhile, Liesl finally has had enough, and she leaves Peter to fend for himself. Hopefully, as an important survival technique, he will master the art of eating without help.
