Synopsis by Mark Deming

A woman who thinks her husband is up to no good discovers just how strange his desires really are in this independent black comedy. John (Daniel London) works for an insurance company and has fallen into a depression, but there's a powerfully unusual reason for his sadness. John suffers from Body Integrity Identity Disorder, a psychological condition that makes him feel incomplete as long as he has a full compliment of limbs; John longs to have his arms amputated, with a pair of stumps in their place. John's wife Anna (Janel Moloney) is certain something's going on with her husband, but she has no idea that he's keen on dismemberment -- or that he's found a doctor (Matt Walton) who's willing to do the job just for kicks. John's mother is of the opinion that her son is simply sleeping around on Anna, and when she shares this notion with her, Anna sets out to find her missing husband, with no idea of what he has planned. Armless was the first feature film from director Habib Azar, and was an official selection at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
