Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Rosemary Theby is granted a divorce, only to discover that the decree is invalid in certain other states. Naturally, the plot dictates that she journey to one of those states, where she faces a charge of bigamy. Her plight stirs up a political tempest in a teapot, involving the man she loves (Lew Cody) and the spiteful relatives of her ex-husband. In fact, Are You Legally Married? was utilized by real-life politicians in an effort to change the antiquated divorce laws of the period. Hard to believe that fashion-plate leading lady Rosemary Theby is the same woman who played W.C. Fields' woebegone frontier wife in the 1933 2-reeler The Fatal Glass of Beer.
