Originally shown on Nickelodeon, The Are You Afraid of the Dark? series teaches kids that scary does not necessarily equal gore. Some big names cycled through the program, including Neve Campbell and Melissa Joan Hart, who star in this release. A group of bold teenagers calling themselves the Midnight Society gather around a campfire to tell frightening tales of their own experience. In the first episode, "The Tale of the Frozen Ghost," Charles Pemlerton Shilling III is unnerved when he has to spend an evening in a haunted farmhouse. Hart plays his babysitter, Daphne. In the second part, "The Tale of the Shiny Red Bicycle," Mike thinks his friend Ricky, who passed away, has come back to haunt him. All of the Nickelodeon adventures feature a moral conclusion drawn by the teenagers involved.
