Synopsis by Alice Day
It has been the aim of modern architects to build houses that seem to be more of an extension of the surrounding natural features. In this program, five such houses are explored and their architects are interviewed. All five structures utilize steel frames, which gives stability and strength while imparting a clean design effect. Architecture in Profile: Steel Houses allows the viewer to see the inside features in addition to the exterior of each house. The architects discuss the advantages of prefabricated parts, and how their design approach differs from methods used in the past.
