The world of Arc the Lad mixes the old with the new: it includes technology far beyond current human capabilities, and yet it also makes use of magic, beasts, and other phenomena reminiscent of an older world. Making his way in this land is Elk, a bounty hunter with a strong sense of moral conviction. He is a loner as most things go, but he can't escape involvement with a conspiracy that's responsible for shape-shifting monsters that are running rampant. He may have the help of the beast-master girl whom he rescues from a violent fate, but will the enemies he makes in the process prove to be too much to handle for a simple bounty hunter?
