Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
This well-received PBS series takes this opportunity to acquaint young children with a basic sense of what an antique really is and the reasons why they might want to start saving some things that are part of their everyday environment. Kids are told about the value of various toy trains that people have been collecting for many years. The narrator also talks about how a variety of the simple toys that a child's own parents and grandparents once played with are often now considered antiques, depending on if specific criteria are met. Teddy bears are featured as proof that some childhood favorites can gain in financial as well as sentimental value. As this video concludes, children are shown playing with many of the featured toys.
