Leftist filmmaker Edna Politi, an Israeli born in Lebanon, interviews six Israeli women who moved to Palestine (the future Israel) in the 1920s and harbored dreams for the future -- dreams that were at odds with the reality of the early 1980s (before the Israeli-Lebanon war). The women are not happy with Israeli society and still hope that the society will change more toward what they had envisioned years ago. None of the women wanted to talk about the Arab-Israeli conflicts, and all focused on other issues. Politi makes it clear through several examples that the status of women in Israeli society could be much improved, but she does not let her own viewpoints undercut or truncate differing opinions of the interviewees. This is a specialized topic that is well-handled but still political, and so will not appeal equally to all viewers.
