Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Bollywood director Mysskin's Tamil-language feature Anjaathe criss-crosses two stories. One substory details the evolution of a friendship between two very different young men growing up in a police colony, each one the son of a police constable: Ajmal stars as Krupakaran, a diligent and responsible young man whose chief goal in life involves pursuing and landing a job as a sub-inspector for the police department; whileNarain stars as the much different Sathyanathan, a thoroughly reckless free-wheeler and rebel continually humiliated by his dad (M.S. Bhaskar). Their friendship remains close for some time, but hits a kink when Sathyanathan has a little too much of his father's torment and decides to compete against Krupakaran in pursuit of the sub-inspector job. Meanwhile, as these events unfurl, two career criminals, Daya (Prasanna) and Velu (Pandiyarajan) participate in a lengthy and extensive series of felonies, and thus goad the cops into searching for them.
