Synopsis by Brian J. Dillard

As ghostly Spike (James Marsters) haunts the halls of Wolfram & Hart, he continues to experience terrifying moments in which he vanishes and finds himself slipping into a nightmarish personal hell. Convinced that his new, non-corporeal unlife will soon end, he turns to resident science whiz Fred (Amy Acker) for help. As Fred attempts to work on the problem, it becomes clear that Spike isn't being pulled to hell to atone for his vampiric sins; rather, he's being tortured by the spirit of a supernatural surgeon named Pavayne (Simon Templeman), who is attempting to stave off his own eternal damnation. Fred eventually finds a way to turn a spirit into flesh, but when Pavayne queue-jumps ahead of Spike for the treatment, all hell literally breaks loose. Originally broadcast October 22, 2003, on the WB network, "Hell Bound" marked season 5, episode 4 of the supernatural soap opera. With its spooky imagery and posterior shots of a naked James Marsters, this episode features an explicit "viewer discretion advised."
