Synopsis by Alice Day

The intrepid archaeologist, Arizona Smith, and his young assistant explore the ancient civilizations that arose near the Aegean Sea, in the area now known as Greece. These are the lands described in Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey, and also the site of the legend of Atlantis. Artifacts left by the Mycenaeans hint at lives as warriors and craftsmen, while the Minoans made their livings as engineers, traders, merchants, and artists. Ancient Civilizations for Kids: Ancient Aegean is aimed at grades three through seven, and offers teachers' guides, vocabulary words, related activities, and Internet resources.
