Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The title character in this Fox reality series was former supermodel, WWE diva and Price Is Right "Barker's Beauty" Lauren Jones, whose mission it was to achieve success as a serious TV journalist. However, the series' producers weren't about to make it easy for poor Lauren; though she possessed two college degrees and had an agreeable on-camera personality, she was obliged to dress like a bleach-blonde bimbo when she reported for work at the newsroom of KTYX in Tyler, TX. The series' premise dictated that station owner Phil Hurley had hired Lauren only to boost the ratings of his cellar-dwelling news program, and that her co-workers -- news director Dan Delgado, current anchorwoman Annalisa Petraglia, and gutsy reporter Michelle Reese -- would make no effort to hide their jealousy and contempt for the buxom newcomer. Would Lauren vanquish her enemies, beat the odds, and make the grade? We'll never know. Debuting August 22, 2007, Anchorwoman lasted but one episode before Fox deep-sixed the project.
