In this series, the focus is on several species of amphibians with information about their habitats and unique qualities. In Amphibians: The Alpine Newt, the relatively recent discovery of the Alpine newt is discussed and the ways in which biologists are working to keep their numbers up. Due to changes in environmental conditions, the survival of some amphibians is a critical issue. The program offers views from the perspective of the featured animal on the ground and in the water, and conveys a sense of the importance of biodiversity in the world. There is an appearance by the biology teacher who discovered the Alpine newt.
