Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith

Accomplished sports producer Bud Greenspan has put together a wonderful collection of clips showing some of America's top athletes competing in the Olympics. Watch as Betty Robinson becomes the first woman to win a gold medal in track and field in the 100-meter dash back in 1928 in Amsterdam. Look on with amazement as Dick Fosbury introduces the world to his "Fosbury flop" while setting a new high-jumping record in 1968 during the Mexico City Games. Greg Louganis is seen performing his singular and daring dives, while young Mary Lou Retton pleases the crowds with her exacting gymnastic routines. Pole vaulters Bob Richards and Don Bragg provide their thoughts about the excitement of competing in the Olympics. This collection of clips and stories is woven together in a lively fashion.
