Synopsis by Alice Day
Told from the viewpoint of youngsters, this series of programs brings to life some of the major events that helped shape America in the 19th century. In short dramas that feature young boys and girls as the central characters, events take on more meaning than when read from a dry text. In American History for Kids: The Pony Express, a young man rides the Pony Express, carrying mail between Missouri and California. This service lasted from 1860 to 1861, and the horsemen who made up the Pony Express became mythical figures, whose fast and fearless riding brought the mail.
