This history documentary recounts the life of James A. Garfield, who was shot in July of 1881 and suffered a plethora of complications from his injuries until his passing two months later. During that two month span, America's greatest minds devised various inventions to help ease the pain of the president, including an early metal detector developed by Alexander Graham Bell to locate the bullet lodged in Garfield's body.
