Synopsis by Rob Ferrier

In this video, the events that led to the actual end of the Vietnam war are examined, as well as the final hours in Saigon. The events of April 30, 1975, the last day of American occupation, are examined in detail, from the entrance of NVA tanks into Saigon to the final, haunting photos of lines of refugees struggling to board the last few helicopters atop the embassy roof. This video chronicles the end of the first war the U.S. ever lost. Broad in scope and responsible in detail, this video makes good use of the huge amount of archival film available on the war. Its serious tone and responsible history makes this episode entirely appropriate for use in the college classroom.
