Synopsis by Robert Firsching
A mondo documentary primarily focusing on music and burlesque in the United States and South America, America di Notte covers a wide range of styles including blues, samba, cabaret, and gospel. The performers range from Lionel Hampton and Nefra Duval to Holiday on Ice, Miriam Michelsonn, and Carlos Machados. Highlights include the burlesque theaters of San Francisco, jazz bands in Harlem, dancing in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, and soloists on Basin Street. More a travelogue or variety show than the usual sleazy exploitation associated with the mondo genre, America di Notte makes a nice nostalgia piece for those so inclined.
