Synopsis by C. Dwayne Smith
While most geography students associate deserts with the white-hot sands of Africa or the desolation of the outback in Australia, few think of the southwestern territory of the United States. Brought to video by Questar, this documentary highlights the journey throughout the land of red rocks, aka the American Sahara. From Death Valley to the Mojave wasteland, through the Joshua trees and over the Giant Rock, this travelogue takes the viewer into the dusty world of coyotes and cacti. Highlights include Glen Canyon's Rainbow Bridge, the Hoodoos of Bryce National Park, and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon.
