While it seems like an odd concept to make a silent film out of a musical comedy, it was done fairly frequently, even as early as the mid-1910s. But in a way it made sense, because the songs could always be played in accompaniment to the picture. That's the way it worked with this film, based on the play by Adolf Phillips -- its theme song was very popular in its day and audiences who came to see the film expected to hear the tune. While riding in the woods, Alma (Ruth MacTammany) loses her way, but finds artist Gaston Duval (George Larkin) and a romance blooms. Meanwhile, Francis Cadillac (George Gaston) dies and leaves his fortune to his ward, Anatole Peach (Walter Mack). But there are conditions to this inheritance, and Alma's help is enlisted in causing Peach to lose his claim to the money. Duval, who doesn't know the motivations behind Alma's pursuit of Peach, becomes jealous. Eventually everything is cleared up, and Alma and Duval reconcile.
