Synopsis by Farida Ezzat
Written and directed by Krystin Ver Linden, the directorial debut tells a harrowing tale of racial oppression. Living on a slave plantation in rural Georgia, Alice spends her days dreaming of freedom. One day, she gets involved in a violent altercation with the plantation owner and runs away, escaping into the neighboring woods. She soon finds out that the year is 1973 and must confront the post-slavery reality of the modern-day world. Starring Keke Palmer, Common, and Jonny Lee Miller, the film won the Directors to Watch award at Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2022.
