Synopsis by Dan Pavlides
This Iraqi drama includes two stories that deal with the trials of farmers under the military regime of General Kassem from 1958 to 1963. Farmers obey the request of the powerful landowners who tell them to abandon their efforts because there is too much salt in the earth. The farmers are divided in their opinions of the situation until they are sparked by the impending revolution. Part two concerns a young woman who is unmarried and pregnant. She battles against her irate relatives for her right to keep the baby, as ancient tribal laws call for her to be put to death.
