Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Fernando Soler, Mexico's Number One character actor, heads the cast of Al Son de la Marimba. Soler plays the patriarch of an aristocratic family, presently courting poverty. To replenish the family coffers, the daughter (Marina Tamayo) is expected to marry a wealthy rancher' son (Emilio Tuero). The girl genuinely loves the boy, but he suspects her family's motivations, and concocts an elaborate ruse to find out how much they really care about him. It comes as no surprise when the avaricious Soler and his wife (Sara Garcia) prove themselves worthy of their son-in-law by film's end.
