Synopsis by Perry Seibert
Mohamad Al-Daradji's drama Ahlaam tells the tale of three different Iraqi citizens comparing and contrasting how their lives were different under Sadaam's brutal dictatorship and amidst the anarchy of the American occupation. Ali (Basher Al-Majidi) is a loyal soldier who ends up in a mental institution alongside Ahlaam, whose fiancé was kidnapped by Sadaam just before their wedding. When the American bombings begin, the hospital is hit. Soon Ali offers to find the missing patients. The film was shot on location at great risk to the cast and crew.
