Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
The adventures of a Transylvanian boy and his dog are chronicled in this children's movie based on Hungarian writer Aron Tamasi's novel. The story takes place in the heavily forested Hargita Mountains. Young Abel must work as a logging guard. He is far from his impoverished parents. To get some money, he coerces his bosses to let him have any trees that naturally fell. Believing him to be a simple lad, one easy to take advantage of, they readily agree. The sneaky boy, gets his trees by using unexploded bombs. He continues to get money from them and others deceived by his innocent demeanor. In the end, he decides to stay at the logging camp. He swears on his mother's death that he will always be generous to the oppressed and impoverished. He is last seen walking into the sunset with his beloved dog.
