Synopsis by Alice Day
In this series from ABC News Nightline, Ted Koppel, award-winning anchor, presents ABC News Nightline: Inside the Oval Office -- The JFK Tapes, Inside the Cuban Missile Crisis, an in-depth look at recordings made during one of the major crises of the Kennedy administration. Though the content of the tapes was controlled by the President (he could choose to record only part of a conversation), it is of interest to many to actually hear Kennedy and his aides discuss the seriousness of the situation, and deliberate ways to persuade the Russians to remove their missiles from Cuban soil.
