Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This video is part of a PBS series, narrated by award-winning journalist Bill Moyers, which surveys some of the most notable events, ideas, and people of the 20th century. This program presents a profile of I.I. Rabi, winner of the 1944 Nobel Prize in physics. Rabi helped develop radar for use in World War II. He was also present at the detonation of the first atomic bomb, an event which transformed him into an advocate for restraint in the use of nuclear power.
