Synopsis by Alice Day
Children with learning disabilities often feel as if they don't measure up to their peers, even though they may possess above average intelligence. Repeated failure to perform schoolwork well may diminish their self-esteem, in addition to alienating them from classmates. The four young people featured in A Mind of Your Own are dealing extremely well with their problems. Despite difficulties, they have found ways to overcome the challenges in their daily lives, and approach life with confidence. The program is suitable for both children with learning disabilities and those without, and will promote a better understanding of the condition.
