Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

A Prodigal Son parable for contemporary times, A Long Way Off tells the story of Jake (Jason Burkey), a young man who aspires to more than working on his father's farm, and sets out to seek his fortune in the city. Convinced that he'll never achieve his full potential working the soil, Jake persuades his hard-working father Mr. Abraham (John Diehl) to give him an early inheritance to fund a move to the city and become an investor. Before long, Jake is living the high-life; he's got more money than he knows what to do with, and he's constantly surrounded by gorgeous women. After winning a friendly bet with a pretty barista (Zoe Myers), Jake falls under the spell of dangerous seductress Laura (Johanna Jowett), who convinces him to go into business with her boyfriend Frank (Robert Davi), a wealthy and dangerous mobster. Them without warning, it all falls apart. Now, with Frank in hot pursuit, Jake goes on the run, scrounging food from dumpsters and eventually returning to his father's farm in order to escape Frank's wrath.
