Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Pathe's A Critical Situation was originally released on the same reel as the studio's Adam 11. This little comedy begins as a husband bids farewell to his wife, in preparation of embarking upon a bicycle excursion. The moment hubby leaves, the wife heads to the back door to usher in her lover. When they hear a noise from the hallway, the wife hides her sweetheart in the closet, accidentally stuffing a sock she had been mending in the lover's coat pocket. Later in the day, the husband happens to meet the lover at a café. Discovering a telltale blonde hair strand on his dining companion's shoulder, the husband laughs knowingly, suggesting that somebody's spouse is in for a big surprise. Sheepishly, the lover excuses himself and heads home, where he is confronted by his own wife for his tardiness. Nervously, the lover reaches for his handkerchief to mop his brow -- whereupon he pulls out the incriminating sock. Displaying more nerve than a bad tooth, the lover turns to his paramour's husband to help him out of his mess.
