Synopsis by Jonathan E. Laxamana
The third installment in the series begun with A Chinese Ghost Story doesn't really continue the first two and merely borrows themes and story elements. A hundred years after the second film, Fong (Tony Leung) is a monk travelling with his master. The two take refuge in an abandoned temple, where they are set upon by ghosts, witches, and demons. One female ghost, Lotus, (played by Joey Wong who starred in the first two films) falls in love with Fong, and Fong attempts to rescue her from the haunted temple. The entertaining kung fu acrobatics and visual effects of the fantasy trilogy are ever-present in an otherwise unoriginal work.
