Synopsis by Sarah Ing

The 2000 U.S. Open was a truly millennial event. Golf's newest wunderkind Tiger Woods accepted the 100-year-old title with ease, after a record-breaking display on the hallowed grounds of Pebble Beach among an historic collection of athletes. From the final Open appearance of the great Jack Nicklaus to the highest Nielsen rating in two decades, the centennial tournament racked up accolades. Woods aggressively pursued the title early on, setting records at every turn, including the largest recorded lead in an Open after 36 and 54 holes. Wood's final tally of 272 tied the record for the lowest overall score in the U.S. Open, first achieved by Nicklaus in 1980, but his 15-stroke victory completely erased the previous record set 101 years before. Woods acknowledged his third major championship with modesty, knowing his performance far outpaced many's expectations. 2000 U.S. Open: Tiger Roars! captures a chapter of American sports history that will be hailed as one of the greatest of all time.
