Writer/director Nick Davis' low-budget first feature is studded with industry professionals -- Oscar winner Steven Wright (The Appointments of Dennis Jennings), two-time Oscar nominee Buck Henry (The Graduate, Heaven Can Wait), star on the rise Amanda Peet -- but even they can't redeem the self-indulgent script. Each actor and actress gets a moment to prattle on about something terribly significant in their lives, and their experiences are supposed to paint a picture of society at the turn of the millennium. But after a half-hour of philosophical wheel-spinning, one just wants to slap them and tell them to think about something other than their place in the universe. They're a pretty useless bunch anyway. There is a scene with a young boy and a gun that is supposed to be high drama, but all it does is expose the casts' weaknesses -- everyone makes a pained expression straight out of acting class -- and the script's misguided idea of self worth.
