From his screen debut in the mid-'20s to his retirement in the late '40s, corpulent, balding William Nestell invariably appeared in B-Westerns. According to Western film historian Les Adams, Nestell acted in no less than 66 feature oaters and at least five serials, more often than not unbilled and usually playing a blacksmith, bartender, cook, or a saloon regular. In the silent era Nestell had been a member of Robert J. Horner's ramshackle stock company. Long in retirement, Nestell died of a heart attack.
