Biography by AllMovie

A graduate of Mississippi's A&M College and an amateur actor, red-headed leading man Truman Van Dyke entered films with Triangle in the mid-1910s and often played the "other man." In 1919, he replaced leading man Pat O'Melley in chapters seven and eight of the Universal serial The Red Glove (Marie Walcamp was the star) and three years later appeared as Elinor Field's love interest in yet another chapterplay, the independently produced The Jungle Goddess. Although leaving films in 1924, Van Dyke can be plainly spotted in stock footage from Jungle Goddess inserted into the 1935 serial Queen of the Jungle. His namesake son played juvenile roles in a few films of the late '40s.
