A veteran stage actor, Theodore Friebus made an auspicious screen debut as Major Brent, wrongly accused of being the Silent Menace, the master villain of the 1915 Pearl White serial Pearl of the Army. In the final chapter, "The Colonel's Orderly," Friebus is cleared of all charges and reunited with his lady love, Bertha, played by vaudeville star Marie Wayne. The actor also played a leading role in Mystery of the Double Cross, a 1917 serial starring Pearl White's would-be successor, Mollie King, before succumbing to a fatal heart attack while appearing on-stage in a Broadway play. He was the father of television comedienne Florida Friebus.
