Before becoming a screenwriter, Terry Southern was famed for writing satirical novels. He gained much notoriety with his erotic book Candy. During the '60s, Southern wrote the screenplays for such films as Dr. Strangelove (1964), Casino Royale (1967), and Easy Rider (1969).
