Tangerine Dream played an important role in the genesis of high-tech electronic popular music. The group was founded in Germany during 1967 and over a 20-year period developed a cult following in Europe, North America, and Japan. In 1977, they launched a new phase in their career when they composed the soundtrack for Friedkin's Sorcerer. They have subsequently composed entire soundtracks or contributed to numerous films, including Risky Business (1983), Vision Quest (1985), and Man Inside (1990).
