Biography by AllMovie

The conservative half of the theatrical roundtable show Hannity & Colmes on the Fox News Channel, Sean Hannity grew up in New York state, though he has dual citizenship in both the U.S. and Ireland. After graduating from high school in 1980, he worked in construction for a period, and eventually enrolled at New York University, but later dropped out. He decided to pursue a career in radio, and in 1989 began hosting his own show on a volunteer basis at college station KCSB in Santa Barbara. He was fired from the station after less than a year after he made disparaging remarks about the gay community during an interview with the author of a book proposing that AIDS was the result of a conspiracy. Hannity leveraged the press he received from the incident as best he could by placing an ad in a number of radio publications describing himself as "the most talked about college radio host in America," and later found a job at WVNN in Alabama. A short while later he moved to Georgia to work at WGST, where he stayed for four years. Then, in 1996, he scored a gig at Fox News appearing alongside Alan Colmes on Hannity & Colmes, so he moved to New York, where he also continued to work in radio on WABC.
