• Made his acting debut in Dosti (1964).
• Owned the race horse Prince Khartoum, which was the first to win the triple crown of the Bangalore Derby 1971, the Indian Derby 1972 and the Indian Turf Invitation Cup 1972.
• Suffered serious burning injuries in a major fire in 1989 whilst filming for The Sword of Tipu Sultan. Following a 13 month stay in hospital, he still managed to complete the filming.
• Launched the five star Golden Palms Hotal and Spa in Bangalore in 1997.
• Has received a vast array of awards, including the Screen Star Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.
