American screenwriter Robert Lee Johnson's first cinematic contribution was the 1932 football drama Huddle. Johnson worked primarily in the "B"-picture field, turning out scripts for Monogram (Hoosier Schoolboy), Sol Lesser Productions (Tarzan's Revenge) and PRC (The Enchanted Forest). On the whole, his scripts tended to be better than what one might expect to find in the "second feature" category. Robert Lee Johnson spent much of the 1940s at Columbia, working on such films as Canal Zone (1942) and Sergeant Mike (1945).
