  • Was born in Accra, Gold Coast (now known as Ghana) where his father worked a management consultant.
  • Made his professional theatre debut as Tim in Noises Off at the Savoy Theatre in 1983.
  • Auditioned for the role of James Bond in The Living Daylights, but lost out to Timothy Dalton.
  • Played the titular role in the stage play Alex, based on a cartoon strip by Charles Peattie and Russell Taylor in 2007; presented a ten-part series on Classic FM as the character Alex Masterley, which won a Gold Award at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2011.
