Canadian Randolph Bartlett was a member of that dying breed in 1929, the inter-title writer. A former reporter, city editor, and columnist, Bartlett began his film career in 1917 after a stint as writer for the industry paper Photoplay. He worked mainly in the action-adventure and Western films.
