Biography by AllMovie

The "Palm Beach Girl" of Ziegfeld Follies fame, Polly Walker had starred opposite George M. Cohan in Billie and The Merry Malones when signed for the female lead in the 1930 screen version of the Broadway musical spectacle Hit the Deck. She starred as the dim Looloo opposite Jack Oakie but the musical was not much liked despite opera diva Marguerite Padula's inspiring rendition of the show's hit song, Vincent Youman's rousing "Hallelujah." She later did a film in England but Polly Walker was definitely among the Broadway stars who struck out in Hollywood. She should, of course, not be confused with the British star of the 1990s.
