Filmmaker Queiroga Perdigão, who sometimes serves as editor and cinematographer for other directors, entered the film industry in 1936 as an assistant director. In that capacity he has worked with directors Arthur Duarte and Manoel de Oliveira on his debut feature Aniki-Bobó (1942). Queiroga then worked for Pathé News in the U.S. Upon his return to Portugal, Queiroga made his directorial debut with the musical drama Fado, História de Uma Cantadeira/Fado, Story of a Singer (1947). In 1958, Queiroga founded his own production company, directing and producing documentaries and newsreel series like Imagens de Portugal/Images of Portugal.
