• Started his career as a production designer with the movie Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon? (1976). 
• Oro, Plata, Mata (1982) was his first successful movie as a director.
• Bagged the Best Director Award for his movie Magic Temple (1996) at the Metro Manila Film Festival.
• Has been an Artist-in-Residence at the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod since 2006.
• In 2015, organized his first solo art exhibit called Gray Matters, featuring the young kids of Negros.
